In the Middle Ages, Belver was a land of Hospitallers, also called the Order of Malta founded in Jerusalem, which evolved in the shadow of its 12th-century castle from the reign of Dom Sancho I, where the Chapel of São Brás is built, a 16th-century building that boasts an altarpiece/reliquary, made up of small sculptures with a hole in the chest and most without hands, to guard the set of relics said to have been brought from the Holy Land by the Knights Hospitallers.
From the cult of the Holy Relics, a phenomenon of popular religiosity rooted in the population of Belver, the festivities were born, and in a tribute to the medieval festivals of the historic town, the Santa Relíquia wines emerged, a brand that symbolises the past and the present, with a view to the future, as the true gem that it is, in Portugal and elsewhere.

The cultural value of wine
Wine is not just a drink, it's a symbol of culture, of customs deeply rooted in celebrations, rituals and social practices; wine allows us to savour time, experience, sharing in journeys of traditions, aromas, in a celebration of flavours that are patiently waiting to be discovered and enjoyed, strengthening community and family ties.
Wine is much more than a drink; it's a reflection of the land, the climate and the soul of the world. who produces it, a liquid expression of culture and history.
